Wallet balance for PAN card applications
SiOnline provides a wallet-based UTI PSA ID, so each PAN application is deducted from your wallet. How it works and how to avoid low-balance failures.
Before you start
- An active PSA ID you can log in to the SiOnline portal with
- Funds ready to add to your wallet
- Five minutes before a customer is standing in front of you — not during
A funded wallet is what turns a PSA login into a working counter. Without balance you can sign in, look around, and do nothing useful — which is precisely why running low feels like a fault rather than an empty shelf.
Wallet-based, not coupon-based
UTI offers two types of PSA ID. A coupon-based ID uses coupons, one per application. A wallet-based ID uses a wallet. SiOnline provides the wallet-based ID, so there are no coupons to buy. You load your wallet, and each PAN application you submit is deducted from the balance.
That is the whole model, and understanding it prevents the most common support call in PAN work: logging in and filing are two different things. Your credentials get you in. Your wallet balance lets you do the job. When the balance is too low, the login still works perfectly and the application stops.
Agents report this as “my PSA login is broken” more often than as “I need to top up”, which is why it sends people to a password reset that cannot help.
Adding balance
- Sign in to the SiOnline portal. If you cannot, that is a separate problem — see resetting your password.
- Check your current balance. Know the number before you add to it.
- Add balance the way you do for your other SiOnline services. Whitelist your sender bank account once, and transfers from it update your wallet. The steps are in our FAQs.
- Keep the transaction reference — not a screenshot of the amount, the reference itself.
- Confirm the balance updated. Do not assume. Refresh and read the number.
- File one test application if you have a genuine one waiting. A balance that shows but does not spend is rare, and far better discovered now.
How much to hold
There is no correct answer, but there is a wrong one: running close to zero.
The cost of holding some extra balance is a small amount of money sitting idle. The cost of running out is turning away a customer who walked in, and who will go to whoever is open instead. In a counter business the second is almost always more expensive than the first.
A practical rule: hold enough for your busiest normal week, and top up when you drop below half of it. You will never think about it again.
When the balance does not update
Payments occasionally settle slower than the screen suggests. Before escalating:
- Wait briefly and refresh. Settlement lag is real and usually short.
- Find the transaction reference. Not the time, not the amount — the reference. Without it nothing can be traced, and the first thing anyone will ask you for is the number you did not keep.
- Check whether the amount actually left your account. A payment that failed at the gateway never reached the portal at all, which is a different conversation.
- Then call us. With the reference, this is a short call. Without it, it is not.
The pattern worth internalising
Almost every PAN-side problem an agent brings us falls into one of three buckets, and telling them apart saves a great deal of time:
| Symptom | Almost always |
|---|---|
| Cannot sign in at all | Password, lapsed ID, or the wrong site |
| Signs in, cannot submit | Wallet balance is too low |
| Submits, nothing happens | Settlement or processing delay — get the reference |
Knowing which bucket you are in before you call turns a long diagnostic conversation into a short factual one.
Never share your password. Nobody at SiOnline needs it, and no legitimate service will ask. If you need help, send us your agent ID — not your credentials.
