Why become an agent
Six things that change the day your agent ID activates

Authorised ticket booking
Book reserved e-tickets in all classes for walk-in customers, with your business name printed on the ticket instead of a personal account holder's.
No monthly cap
A personal IRCTC ID limits how many tickets you may book each month. An agent ID doesn't — subject to IRCTC's per-train Tatkal limits.
Fixed charge per PNR
₹40 per AC PNR and ₹20 per non-AC PNR. It is printed on the ticket and you collect it from the customer. IRCTC does not allow any extra charge on top, and SiOnline pays no commission or payment-gateway share.
Cancellation & refund support
Handle eligible cancellations and TDR filing for customers, with automatic credit back to your wallet on failed bookings.
Add railway to what you sell
Rail ticketing slots into an existing travel desk, mobile shop, CSC or Grahak Seva Kendra without new premises or staff.
Serve customers anywhere
Bookings are pan-India from wherever you operate, and home-based working is permitted.

On "lifetime validity" claims: some providers advertise an agent ID that never needs renewing. IRCTC agent IDs carry an annual validity and are renewed. We'd rather tell you about the ₹2,360 now than surprise you in month thirteen.
Trust
Why trust SiOnline?
Anyone can print "authorised" on a website. IRCTC publishes the actual list of its Authorised Principal Service Providers on its own domain — so don't take our word for it.
IRCTC Authorised PSP
Verified on IRCTC's official list.

M/s SI Online Technomart Pvt. Ltd., Ratlam
Listed in the IRCTC Authorised Principal Service Providers list, under the Internet Cafe Scheme (ICS) category: page 6, row 27.
Why this matters: a PSP that isn't on the IRCTC list cannot lawfully appoint you as an authorised agent. Before paying any provider — including us — open that PDF and find their registered company name. If it isn't there, walk away.

Your per-PNR charge
Fixed by class, charged per PNR
A family of four on one PNR pays the same as a solo traveller on one PNR. The amount is printed on the ticket and you collect it from the customer.
| Ticket class | Fixed agent charge |
|---|---|
| AC First Class (1A) | ₹40 per PNR |
| AC 2 Tier (2A) | ₹40 per PNR |
| AC 3 Tier (3A) | ₹40 per PNR |
| AC Chair Car (CC / EC) | ₹40 per PNR |
| Sleeper Class (SL) | ₹20 per PNR |
| Second Sitting (2S) | ₹20 per PNR |
| Payment gateway share | Not shared with agents |
Work out your own numbers
We're not going to tell you what you'll earn. Volume depends on your location, footfall and competition, and any provider quoting you a monthly income figure is guessing. Put your own expected volume in and the arithmetic is yours.
The Tatkal charge is the same as general quota, with no premium rate. Agents cannot charge customers anything beyond the fixed ₹40 / ₹20, because IRCTC does not allow extra charges. SiOnline pays no commission. It charges you only the ticket fare, payment-gateway charges and IRCTC charges.
Your expected monthly volume
Set this to what you realistically expect in your first six months, not your best month.
Arithmetic on figures you entered — not a forecast, projection or income promise. Excludes electricity, internet, premises, staff and the recurring charges listed on this page. Many agents book far less than this.
The basics
What is IRCTC agent registration?
An IRCTC authorised agent is a person or business permitted to book railway e-tickets on behalf of customers, commercially, through a dedicated agent login. A personal IRCTC account is for your own travel and is capped each month. An agent account is a licensed commercial channel with no monthly cap, its own booking interface, and a fixed charge of ₹40 (AC) or ₹20 (non-AC) per PNR, printed on the ticket and collected from the customer.
IRCTC does not appoint retail agents directly. It authorises a small number of Principal Service Providers (PSPs), and those PSPs appoint and support agents — sometimes called RSPs, or retail service providers. Your registration, KYC, digital signature and ongoing support all run through your PSP, while the booking authority itself comes from IRCTC.
That structure is why choosing the PSP matters as much as the fee. The PSP holds your wallet, processes your refunds, renews your ID, and is the desk you escalate to when a booking fails mid-transaction.
A legal note worth reading. Selling railway tickets to customers from a personal IRCTC account is an offence under section 143 of the Railways Act. Authorisation is not a formality — it is the thing that makes the business lawful.

The detailed requirements
Registration is open broadly, but it is not unconditional — applications can be rejected, and you should know the criteria before you start.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Age | 18 years or above. No upper age limit. |
| Nationality | Indian, with a valid PAN and Aadhaar. |
| PAN status | Your PAN must not already be linked to a personal IRCTC account. It can be released from an existing account before you apply. |
| Mobile number | Must not be registered with IRCTC on any personal or agent ID. |
| Email ID | Must also be unused on IRCTC. |
| Education | No formal qualification required. Basic computer and internet literacy is necessary in practice. |
| Trade licence / GST | Not required for individual registration. |
| Equipment | A computer with internet and a printer. Windows 10 or later for DSC dongle drivers. |
| Document | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PAN card | Yes | Must not be registered on an existing IRCTC personal ID |
| Aadhaar / address proof | Yes | Voter ID, passport, driving licence, utility bill or bank passbook also accepted |
| Passport-size photograph | Yes | Recent, plain background |
| Mobile number | Yes | Unregistered with IRCTC; used for OTP authentication |
| Email ID | Yes | Also unregistered with IRCTC |
| IRCTC registration Form 5 | Yes | Signed — download here |
| Declaration form | Yes | Signed |
| Digital signature form | Where applicable | Only if you choose DSC login; includes video and mobile verification |
| Business / office proof | Where applicable | Rent agreement or utility bill for the premises |
| Bank account details | Optional | Account number, branch and IFSC, for adding wallet balance to your account and booking tickets |
| MOA, AOA, board resolution, director KYC | Companies only | Required when registering a company rather than an individual |
On "anyone can become an agent": you will see that phrasing on competing sites. It isn't quite true. Eligibility depends on meeting IRCTC's documentation and verification requirements, and applications can be rejected — most often because a PAN, mobile number or email is already tied to an existing IRCTC account.
Agent login
OTP login, DSC login, or both
Your agent login is a different system from the irctc.co.in account you may already use for personal travel. A Class 3 DSC is optional: you choose OTP login, DSC login, or both. OTP login and DSC login use different login links: OTP login is at ics.irctc.co.in and DSC (dongle) login is at irctc.co.in. Agents cannot log in through an app.
OTP-based login
An OTP is sent to your registered mobile number at each login. Fastest to activate — often the same day — and needs no hardware, so it suits agents booking a handful of tickets a day and anyone working from more than one location.
Valid 1 year · included in the ₹3,000 plan · renewal ₹1,180 per year
DSC dongle login (optional)
A Class 3 digital signature certificate on a USB token, physically plugged into your machine. Stronger authentication and the usual choice above roughly ten tickets a day. Requires driver installation and is tied to that computer.
₹6,000 incl. GST for 2-year validity · couriered after verification
| Capability | Personal account | Agent account |
|---|---|---|
| Book for yourself and family | Yes | Yes |
| Book for customers commercially | Not permitted | Yes |
| Monthly booking limit | Capped confirm cap | No monthly cap |
| Business name on the ticket | — | Yes |
| Fixed agent charge per PNR | — | ₹40 / ₹20 |
| Authorisation certificate | — | Yes |
| Tatkal window opens | 10:00 / 11:00 | 10:30 / 11:30 |
| Premium Tatkal | Yes | Not available |
| Support | General helpline | PSP escalation desk |
Note the trade-offs run both ways: an agent account enters the Tatkal window later than a personal user and cannot book Premium Tatkal at all. Any page telling you an agent ID is strictly better is selling, not explaining.
Tatkal timing for agents
When your agent ID can book Tatkal
Every agent ID is blocked for the first 30 minutes of a Tatkal window, under a Ministry of Railways circular. These are the two times to plan around.
Agents blocked 10:00–10:30
Agents blocked 11:00–11:30
Before you register: these times apply to every IRCTC agent ID, whichever provider you register through. Registering with us does not move them.
The guide covers the Aadhaar OTP step, the per-train limit, Premium Tatkal and what to tell customers at the counter. Source for the block: Press Information Bureau.
Compliance
Agent rules & restrictions
Worth reading before you register rather than after. Breaches can suspend or cancel an agent ID.
One agent ID, one operator
Your credentials are yours. Sharing or reselling agent login access is not permitted.
Display your authorisation
Authorised agents are expected to display their agent details at their place of business.
No extra charges
You may collect only the fixed ₹40 / ₹20 per PNR printed on the ticket. IRCTC does not allow any other charge on the customer.
No personal-ID selling
Booking customer tickets on a personal IRCTC account is an offence under section 143 of the Railways Act.
Aadhaar OTP on Tatkal
You must collect a customer mobile number for OTP authentication on Tatkal bookings.
Annual renewal
Let the ID lapse and booking access stops. Renew before expiry to avoid a revival process.
Wallet-funded bookings
Bookings draw on a pre-funded wallet. Keep at least ₹199 available.
KYC must stay current
Changes of address, mobile number or business details need updating through your PSP.
No bulk or speculative booking
Booking patterns suggesting black-ticketing are monitored and acted on by IRCTC.
FAQs
IRCTC agent registration questions
What is IRCTC agent registration?
It is the process of becoming an agent authorised to book railway e-tickets for customers commercially, through IRCTC's Principal Service Provider system. You receive an agent ID, authorisation documentation and a dedicated booking login that is separate from any personal IRCTC account.
How can I become an IRCTC agent?
Apply through an IRCTC Authorised Principal Service Provider. IRCTC does not appoint retail agents directly. With SiOnline the sequence is: submit the enquiry form, pass an eligibility pre-check on your PAN, mobile and email, submit KYC and signed forms, complete digital signature verification, pay ₹3,000 including GST, then receive your credentials once IRCTC verification completes.
Who can become an IRCTC agent?
Any Indian aged 18 or above with a valid PAN and Aadhaar, provided the PAN, mobile number and email are not already registered on an IRCTC account. Travel agents, shop owners, CSC and Grahak Seva Kendra operators, cyber cafés, individuals working from home, companies and corporates are all eligible. No educational qualification, trade licence or GST registration is required for individual registration.
How long does IRCTC agent registration take?
With an OTP-based login, the timeline depends on document verification and IRCTC activation. A DSC dongle plan adds courier transit time. The most common delay is not processing — it is discovering that a PAN, mobile number or email is already tied to an existing IRCTC account, which is why we check those first.
What documents are required?
Mandatory: PAN card, Aadhaar or other address proof, a passport-size photograph, a mobile number and email ID not previously registered with IRCTC, and the signed Form 5 and declaration form. Depending on your plan and applicant type you may also need a digital signature form, business or office premises proof, bank account details, or company documents such as MOA, AOA, a board resolution and director KYC.
How much does IRCTC agent registration cost?
₹3,000 including GST for the IRCTC Agent plan, which covers the agent ID, authorisation, OTP login, wallet and support. Class 3 DSC login is optional, at ₹6,000 including GST for 2-year validity. Premium registration is ₹4,000 including GST and adds IRCTC tourism services, FASTag, bill payments, PAN card and more. Call our team and we will explain it.
Is the registration fee refundable?
No. Registration fees are non-refundable, which is standard across IRCTC PSPs. This is why we run the eligibility pre-check on your PAN, mobile number and email before requesting any payment.
How long is an IRCTC agent ID valid, and what does renewal cost?
The agent login ID is valid for one year and renews at ₹2,360 per year. OTP login is valid for 1 year, with a ₹1,180 yearly renewal. DSC login is valid for 2 years and renews at ₹6,000 including GST, only if you chose DSC. Be cautious of any provider advertising "lifetime validity" — IRCTC agent IDs carry an annual validity and are renewed.
Can I pay the registration fee in instalments?
Yes, in 2 instalments: the first after your eligibility check passes and the second when document verification completes. Your agent ID is created only after 100% of the fee is paid.
Is there a minimum balance requirement?
Yes. Bookings draw on a pre-funded wallet and a minimum balance of ₹199 should be maintained. Failed or cancelled bookings are credited back automatically.
How much does an IRCTC agent earn per ticket?
The agent charge is fixed: ₹40 per PNR on AC classes (1A, 2A, 3A, CC, EC) and ₹20 per PNR on non-AC classes (SL, 2S). It is printed on the ticket and you collect it from the customer. It is per PNR rather than per passenger, so four passengers on one PNR pay the same as one. Agents cannot charge anything beyond it, because IRCTC does not allow extra charges. SiOnline pays no commission and does not share payment-gateway charges. It charges you only the ticket fare, payment-gateway charges and IRCTC charges.
How much can I earn per month as an IRCTC agent?
We deliberately won't quote a figure. Monthly income is entirely a function of booking volume, which depends on your location, footfall and local competition, and we have no basis for predicting yours. Use the calculator above with your own realistic volume estimate. Treat any provider advertising a specific monthly income with scepticism and ask what it is based on.
Do I earn more on Tatkal bookings?
No. The per-PNR charge on Tatkal is the same as on general quota bookings — ₹40 per AC PNR and ₹20 per non-AC PNR.
What is the difference between an agent login and a personal IRCTC login?
A personal account is for your own and your family's travel and carries a monthly booking cap. An agent account is a licensed commercial channel: no monthly cap, your business name on the ticket, a fixed charge per PNR, a dedicated wallet and PSP-level support. The trade-offs run the other way too — agents enter the Tatkal window 30 minutes later than personal users and cannot book Premium Tatkal.
Is a digital signature required?
No. A Class 3 DSC is optional: you can choose OTP login, DSC login, or both. DSC login uses a Class 3 digital signature certificate on a USB token, created online via Aadhaar OTP with video and mobile verification, and costs ₹6,000 including GST for 2-year validity. OTP login needs no hardware and no DSC. The two use different login links. Higher-volume agents generally prefer the dongle; agents booking a few tickets a day, or working from more than one location, generally prefer OTP.
Can I use my IRCTC agent login from different devices?
An OTP-based login is not tied to one machine, so it works from any device with your registered mobile number to hand. A DSC dongle login requires the physical token and its drivers, so it is effectively tied to the computers where those drivers are installed.
My PAN is already registered on a personal IRCTC account. What now?
Release it from that account before applying. In the personal IRCTC account, go to My Account, then My Profile, then the option to release PAN or Aadhaar, enter your login details, accept the terms and submit. The same applies to a mobile number or email already registered with IRCTC — the agent registration needs values not in use.
Can I book Tatkal tickets as an IRCTC agent, and from what time?
Yes, regular Tatkal. A 30-minute block applies at the start of the window under a Ministry of Railways circular, so agents may book AC classes from 10:30 AM and non-AC classes from 11:30 AM. Premium Tatkal is not available on agent logins. Since 15 July 2025, Tatkal bookings made through authorised agents also require Aadhaar-based OTP authentication, so you will need a mobile number from your customer at the time of booking.
Is there a limit on Tatkal bookings?
Yes — one PNR of up to four passengers per train per day, though you may book across unlimited trains. There is no special agent quota; the seat availability you see is the same as a personal user or railway PRS counter sees.
What services can an IRCTC agent provide?
Reserved railway e-ticket booking in all classes, regular Tatkal within the IRCTC rules, and eligible cancellations and refund or TDR handling. On the Premium plan you can additionally offer IRCTC tourism services, FASTag, bill payments, PAN card and more. Call us and we will explain it.
How do I check my registration status?
Call or WhatsApp us with your registered mobile number and we will tell you which stage your application has reached. There is no self-service tracker on this website. See how to check your status.
