Editorial guidelines

How we research, check and source our guides, what we will not write, and the disclaimer that applies to every article.

01Who writes our guides

Our guides are written by the SiOnline Team, and we write them in the first person plural: "we". We do not put an individual author's name on an article, and we do not name a reviewer. We also do not claim any professional qualification for an article. Each guide shows a "Written by the SiOnline Team" box at the end.

The guides are for people who run a counter or want to start one: IRCTC agents, PAN card (UTI PSA) agents, FASTag agents and shop owners who add services such as recharge and bill payment. Some guides are in Hindi. They follow the same method.

02How we research

We start from official documents and the pages of the organisations that run the service: agent policies, norms, circulars, press releases, and the service pages of the bank or issuer. When we use SiOnline's own service pages, for a fee or a step, we say so in the article.

The kinds of publishers our guides link to are:

  • IRCTC: agent policy and norms documents, the list of authorised Principal Service Providers, and IRCTC Tourism pages.
  • Press Information Bureau (PIB): government press releases, for example on Tatkal and railway rules.
  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and NPCI: directions and circulars on payments and bill payment.
  • UTIITSL and Protean (NSDL): PAN application services and fees.
  • Income Tax Department: PAN, Instant e-PAN and forms.
  • UIDAI: Aadhaar.
  • IHMCL and NHAI: FASTag circulars, FAQs and procedural guidelines.
  • Banks and card issuers: their own FASTag and account pages.
  • Other government bodies: for example the Ministry of Electronics and IT, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the GST authorities, where a guide touches their rules.

03How we check facts

Here is what we do, and what we do not claim.

  • Each fact is traced to a source. A fee, a date, a limit or a rule comes from a named document or page. If we cannot trace a fact to a source, we leave it out, or we say in the article that it is unconfirmed.
  • We compare sources where more than one exists. If two official sources cover the same point, we read both. We do not claim that every fact has several sources, because some facts have only one official page.
  • When official documents differ or are unclear, we say so. We tell you which document says what, and we do not quietly pick a side. Where the documents are silent, we say they do not say, and we suggest you ask in writing.
  • Facts that change carry an "as of" date. Fees, timings and rules are written with the date we checked them, for example "as of 18 October 2026".
  • SiOnline's own pages are labelled. When a statement rests only on SiOnline's page, the article says so, for example "SiOnline's UTI PSA login page says". It is not presented as a rule set by someone else.

Checking is not a promise that nothing changed afterwards. Please read the content disclaimer below.

04Sources in our articles

We link the sources we used, so you can open them and check for yourself. Most guides end with a "Sources" list. Each link points to the page or document we read, and many show the date we read it.

At the time this page was built, 173 of our 179 guides end with a Sources list. A few guides explain how SiOnline's own services work, such as the wallet or the recharge app. They rely on SiOnline's own pages, and they say so in the text.

If a guide does not list a source for something you need, do not rely on it. Ask us, or confirm it with the official source.

05What we do not write

  • No income or earnings promises. We do not tell you what you will earn.
  • No promise of approval or results. We do not promise that an application will be approved, an ID will be activated, or a task will finish by a date.
  • No comparisons with other providers. We do not name or rank other agent providers, and we do not compare their prices with ours.
  • No legal or tax advice. We explain what the published rules say. We do not tell you what to do in your own legal or tax matter.

06What SiOnline is, and what it is not

SI Online Technomart Private Limited (SiOnline) is an IRCTC Authorised Principal Service Provider under the Internet Cafe Scheme (ICS), appointed in 2018. You can check our entry in IRCTC's own register: the page and row are on our PSP page.

We sell registrations and services. We do not issue PAN cards, IRCTC agent IDs, FASTags, digital signature certificates or approvals. Those come from IRCTC, UTIITSL, Protean, banks and certifying authorities. We help you apply, and the decision is theirs.

Because we sell some of the services we write about, a guide may mention SiOnline's services and prices. Those mentions are ours, so please weigh them that way.

07Dates and corrections

Every guide shows a Published date and an Updated date, near the top and again in the "Written by" box at the end. When we change an article, we change its Updated date.

If you find a mistake or something that is out of date, please tell us. Email help@sionline.co.in or call +91 91091 35959, and name the guide and the line. We review the report against the source. If the source supports the correction, we update the article.

08Content disclaimer

The articles on this website are general information. They are written for people who run a counter or want to start one. Please read these points before you rely on any article.

  • Information only, not advice. Nothing on this website is legal, tax, financial or other professional advice. If you need advice for your own case, ask a qualified professional.
  • We do not guarantee accuracy. We do not guarantee that any article is accurate, complete or up to date. Rules, fees, forms and processes can change without notice, and an article may not show a change yet.
  • Facts are as of the date shown. Each article shows when it was published and when it was last updated. Where it gives an "as of" date, the fact is true as of that date and may have changed since.
  • Check the official source first. Before you act or pay, confirm the point with the official source or the issuing authority. Our articles link to the sources we used so you can do this.
  • No promise of any result. We do not guarantee approval, activation, timelines, earnings or any other result. What happens in your case depends on you, your documents and the decision of the issuing authority.
  • We are not the authorities. SiOnline is not IRCTC, UTIITSL, Protean, NPCI, NHAI, a bank or any government body. We do not issue or approve their IDs, cards or tags.
  • Other websites. Links to other websites are for reference. We do not control those websites and we do not endorse them. Their content and terms can change at any time.
  • Examples and screenshots are illustrative. Examples, figures worked out for an example, and screenshots show how something can look or work. Your own screen, price or result may be different.
  • Limit of our responsibility. To the extent the law permits, SiOnline is not liable for any loss that comes from relying on the content of this website.

This disclaimer is about the content of our articles. The terms for a SiOnline agent account are in our terms and conditions.
