IRCTC agent ID renewal
An agent ID runs on an annual cycle. Here is what renewal costs, what happens if you miss it, and why a provider advertising lifetime validity is worth one more question before you believe it.

What renewal keeps alive.
An expired ID does not warn you. It simply stops working, and it tends to stop working at the worst available moment.
Your ability to book
No active ID, no bookings. Everything else on the counter continues; ticketing does not.
Your authorisation letter
The letter reflects a live appointment. A lapsed ID makes the document on your wall out of date.
Your regulars
A customer turned away once usually comes back. Turned away twice, they find somewhere else.
Your history
Reviving a recently lapsed ID is far quicker than registering again from nothing.
Your wallet balance
Balance does not vanish, but you cannot spend it through an ID that will not authenticate.
Your support cover
24 hours, 7 days, and it is most useful to you on the day something breaks.
How to renew.
Five minutes if you do it before expiry. Longer if you do it after.

About “lifetime validity”.
It is advertised in this market, and it deserves exactly one follow-up question.
Ask what you will pay in year three, in writing. An annual cost described as absent has usually been relocated — into a higher joining fee, a per-transaction deduction, or a renewal that reappears under a different name.
We would rather publish the number. Renewal here is ₹2,360 a year, it is on this page, and it is the same figure we will say on the phone.
Compare that against whatever you are being offered. If the other arrangement is genuinely better for your volume, it will survive the comparison.
Questions about renewal.
Does an IRCTC agent ID need renewing?
Yes. It runs on an annual cycle. Renewal with SiOnline is ₹2,360 a year for the agent ID, and ₹1,180 a year where you use OTP login.
Is there such a thing as a lifetime agent ID?
You will see it advertised. Ask what happens in year three and get the answer in writing. An annual cost that is described as absent has usually been moved somewhere else rather than removed.
What happens if I do not renew?
The ID stops authenticating. You will find out at the counter, usually with a customer in front of you, which is the expensive way to discover it.
Can a lapsed ID be revived?
Often, yes, and it is quicker than starting again. Call +91 91091 35959 with your agent ID and we will tell you what applies — the answer depends on how long it has been dormant.
When should I renew?
Before expiry rather than on it. A renewal processed in advance is routine; one processed after a lapse involves reactivation on top.
Will you remind me?
We contact agents on the details held on your account, so keep your mobile number and email current with us. Do not rely solely on a reminder — put the date in your own calendar.
Does renewal cost the same as registration?
No. Registration is ₹3,000 incl. GST once. Renewal is ₹2,360 a year thereafter. Full detail on the fees page.
Does my digital signature expire too?
A Class 3 digital signature has its own validity period set by the certifying authority, separate from your agent ID. Both need to be current for you to book — see the DSC guide.
I renewed but still cannot log in.
Check whether the problem is the ID or the signature — they fail differently. The agent login page lists the common errors and what each one actually means.
Can I renew if I registered through a different provider?
Your agent ID is tied to the provider who appointed you, so renewal goes through them. If you are considering moving, call us and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth it in your case.
Renew before it lapses.
Call +91 91091 35959 with your agent ID. If it has already expired, say so — revival is usually quicker than you expect.
