FASTag earnings

FASTag agent commission

You came for a number. We are going to explain why the number on its own would mislead you, give you the three things that actually decide what a FASTag counter earns, and then quote you properly on a call.

Why agents add it

Three things decide what FASTag earns you.

None of them is the headline rate, which is why comparing providers on a single advertised figure is the wrong way to choose.

Recharge, not issuance

Issuing a tag happens once per vehicle. Recharging it happens for years. Agents who look only at the issuance rate are pricing the smaller half of the business.

Where your counter is

A shop near a highway, a transport yard or a commercial parking area sees a different vehicle mix from one in a residential lane. That mix drives everything.

What kind of vehicles

Commercial vehicles recharge far more often than private cars. Vehicle class affects both the tag and the pattern of repeat business.

Whether they come back

A customer recharges wherever it is easy. Being easy is mostly about being open and being quick, which is within your control.

What else you sell

The vehicle owner standing at your counter also buys recharges, pays bills and books tickets. FASTag is often worth more for who it brings in than what it pays.

Which issuer

Rates and settlement cycles are set by the bank. This is precisely why a published figure would be wrong for most readers.

How it works

How we quote you.

Four questions, one call. You will know the numbers before you spend anything.

Your next steps

Tell us where your counter is

Follow the process below. Select a number to explore a step.

  1. Tell us where your counter is

Highway, town centre, residential area, transport hub — this changes the answer more than anything else.

  2. Tell us the vehicle mix you see

Mostly private cars, mostly commercial, or both. Be honest rather than optimistic; the arithmetic only helps if the inputs are real.

  3. We give you the rates that apply

For your arrangement, on issuance and on recharge, with the settlement cycle stated.

  4. We work through the monthly figure with you

Using your volume, not a marketing example. If it does not make sense for your location we will say so.

  5. Onboarding, if it stacks up

See FASTag agent registration for what that involves.

What you need

What we need to quote you accurately.

All of it is about your counter rather than about you. None of it is a credit check.

Why we will not print a rate here.

We could. Most sites do, and it would probably help this page rank.

The problem is that FASTag commission depends on the issuing bank, the vehicle class and the arrangement you are onboarded under. To publish one figure we would have to pick one combination, then leave it on a page where it slowly becomes wrong.

Agents make real decisions on those numbers — whether to add the service, whether to take on staff. Being roughly right in public is worse than being exactly right on a call, so ring +91 91091 35959 and we will give you the figures for your case.

If a provider does quote you a headline rate, ask two follow-ups: does it apply to recharge as well as issuance, and which issuer is it for. The answers are where the real comparison lives.

FASTag earnings

Questions about FASTag earnings.

How much commission does a FASTag agent earn?

It is set by the issuing bank and varies by issuer and by vehicle class, so a single published figure would be wrong for most people reading it. Tell us your location and expected volume on +91 91091 35959 and we will give you the numbers that apply to you.

Why will you not just publish a rate?

Because we would have to pick one issuer, one vehicle class and one month, and then leave it on the page. Agents make decisions on those numbers. We would rather say it on a call and be right.

Where does the money actually come from — issuing or recharging?

Both, but they behave completely differently. Issuance is one-off per vehicle. Recharge repeats for as long as that customer keeps using the tag. The recurring half is what makes FASTag worth having on a counter.

Do commercial vehicles pay better than cars?

Vehicle class affects both the tag and the recharge pattern, and a commercial vehicle recharges far more often than a private car. A counter near a highway or a transport hub is a different business from one in a residential lane.

Is FASTag worth adding to an existing counter?

It is one of the better additions, because it costs almost nothing to run and brings customers back on a cycle they do not control. It is not a business to open a shop for on its own.

How many tags would I need to sell to make it worthwhile?

The wrong question, in our experience. Ask instead how many vehicles in your area will recharge through you every month, because that is the number that compounds.

Do I need to hold stock?

Arrangements differ by issuer. We will tell you what applies before you commit to anything.

When is commission paid?

Settlement follows the issuer's cycle. We will confirm the cycle for your arrangement at onboarding rather than describe someone else's here.

Can I charge the customer a service fee on top?

What you may charge is governed by the issuer's terms. Ask before you assume — this is a common way agents get into trouble with an issuer.

What does it cost to become a FASTag agent?

It depends on the arrangement you are onboarded under, which is why it is quoted on enquiry — see pricing. What we will not do is take money before telling you what you are buying.
