IRCTC Access Denied Error: Fix the Login Link
Getting Access Denied while booking as an IRCTC agent? Open the current OTP login link, try a private window, clear site data and check any payment before retrying.
SiOnline support says this error commonly appears when an OTP agent opens an old IRCTC booking website or saved link. Start with the current OTP login address: https://www.ics.irctc.co.in/eticket/train-search. If you use a DSC instead of OTP login, use the DSC link assigned to your ID on the agent login page.
An Access Denied page does not, by itself, prove that your agent ID is blocked. The next step also depends on when the message appears.
| When you see it | Check first |
|---|---|
| Before the login form | Page address and the agent login route |
| After entering an ID or password | The exact login response and account status |
| After a payment redirect | Booking history and the original payment reference |
Why does the old link cause trouble?
An old bookmark may open a booking route that is no longer the OTP route SiOnline gives its agents. Saved cookies can also bring back an earlier session or redirect. That is why opening the current address in a private window is a useful check. It does not identify the exact server-side cause of your error.
The Ministry of Railways says IRCTC also uses security controls against automated traffic. So if the current link still shows Access Denied, do not assume that an old URL was the only cause or that a password reset will fix it.
How do you fix Access Denied?
- Check any payment first. If you tried to pay, look for a ticket or PNR before another booking. Keep the payment reference.
- Leave the old site. Close the old tab. For a SiOnline OTP agent ID, type https://www.ics.irctc.co.in/eticket/train-search into the address bar. Check that the full domain is
www.ics.irctc.co.in, not a look-alike. For DSC login, use your assigned DSC route instead. - Try a private window. In Chrome or Edge on Windows or Linux, press Ctrl+Shift+N. On a Mac in Chrome, press ⌘+Shift+N. You can also open a private window from your browser menu. Enter the current link there and sign in. Google’s Chrome help lists these shortcuts. Do not start a second payment just to test the window.
- Clear IRCTC site data if the private window works. In your regular browser, remove saved cookies and cached data for the IRCTC site, then reopen the current link. Chrome’s site-data instructions show how. This signs you out; save any booking references first. Replace an old bookmark with the current link.
- If it still fails, ask for help. Save the message, page address, reference number and time. Hide passwords, OTPs and customer details in screenshots. IRCTC lists Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari as compatible browsers, so update yours if needed. Tell your provider if the error mentions a client IP or you use a VPN or proxy. Do not keep changing IPs or trying passwords.
If other websites also fail to load, check your internet connection. If they work and IRCTC still refuses access, include that observation in your support request. Neither result proves the server-side cause.
If money was debited, check the booking first
Before another payment, match the original payment reference to your booking history. Look for a PNR, train, journey date and transaction status. If a ticket exists, review it. If the result is unclear, ask your provider to trace the original attempt. An Access Denied screen is not a cancellation or refund confirmation. See the failed-booking guide for the separate refund process.
What to send to support
For an ID registered through SiOnline, contact SiOnline support. Otherwise contact the provider that issued your agent ID. Send the error text and reference, failed page address, time, browser, login method, and the checks you tried. Add the original booking or payment reference if money was involved. Never send a password or OTP.
IRCTC also lists its eQuery support route. Your provider can confirm account status and advise the appropriate escalation; a page error alone cannot.
Quick questions
Does Access Denied mean my agent ID is suspended?
No conclusion about suspension follows from that screen alone. Ask your provider to check the account record and give them the exact error.
How long should I wait before trying again?
There is no verified waiting period for every IRCTC Access Denied error. Follow a retry instruction if one appears. First confirm the outcome of any attempted payment.
Keep the error reference
The exact result and any transaction reference help support trace your case.
